Emergencies

  • If you feel you child has a life-threatening emergency, Dial 911 .
  • If you're not sure whether your child's condition is life-threatening, please call one of our offices to help determine whether emergency treatment is needed. If the emergency is after hours, please call your primary care provider first. If you can't reach them, you can call  us at (732) 972-7337 and you will be directed to call our automated after hours service phone number.
  • Please be aware that is impossible to treat a child over the phone. If the symptoms are worrisome or if you as a parent are concerned, you will be referred to the Emergency Room.

  • If you believe your child may have eaten a poison or other toxic substance, you should first call the Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222.

Directions to St. Peter's Children's Hospital

If you need to bring your child to the emergency room, PedEmerge recommends The Bristol-Myers Squibb Children's Hospital at Robert Wood Johnson or St. Peter's in New Brunswick. If a child needs to be hospitalized, they will be  taken care of by the pediatric hospitalists.  We do not see patients in the hospital, but we closely coordinate the care with the pediatric hospitalists.
